Grasshoppers Tag Tourists with 7-3 Loss
|
The Greensboro Grasshoppers picked up a win at McCormick Field, knocking off the Asheville Tourists, 7-3. Starting pitcher Kevin Emery played a key role in the triumph. Greensboro is 18-20 and Asheville, with the loss, 17-21.
Cason Heintze had a big 2-run home run for the Grasshoppers in the top of the fourth inning. With Greensboro leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff McElroy and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Grasshoppers on top, 3-0.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Heintze told the Greensboro Daily News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
