Asheville Loses, 4-3, in 10
|
The Columbia Fireflies faced a tenacious opponent in Asheville pitcher Hunter Faria, but still scratched out a win at McCormick Field by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Faria went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The Fireflies saw their win-loss record go to 20-19. At the same time, the Tourists fell to 19-20.
Carson Martin, who is tied for 8th in the SAL in triples with 2, had a direct impact on the outcome. Martin contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Columbia up, 4-3.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Martin. "And not try to do too much."
