RiverDogs Score Late, Top Tourists, 5-2
|
The Asheville Tourists got a superb performance from pitcher Adrian Mendiola, but the Charleston RiverDogs still won the game, 5-2. Mendiola threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. Charleston's record now stands at 23-13, placing them third in the South Atlantic League Carolina Division.
Charleston took a 5-2 lead on Mason Marston's 6th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which Marston hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Asheville pitcher Ben Caviglia visibly frustrated.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Charleston manager Ramon Acosta.
