The Greensboro Grasshoppers knocked off the Asheville Tourists, 5-2, in South Atlantic League action at NewBridge Bank Park. Greensboro pitcher and Roseville, California, native Noah Tsuji had an outstanding performance. Rod Cox closed the door for Greensboro, picking up his 10th save of the year. By defeating Asheville, the 6th-place Grasshoppers improved to 15-19.
Had Maxwell Jones not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Jones hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Grasshoppers.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Tsuji told the Greensboro Today. "But we take nothing for granted."
