Catfish Rally For Late Win Over Growlers
|
The Columbus Catfish powered past the Jonesboro Growlers, 8-5, at Growlers Ballpark. Chace Clay provided some of the pop. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Myles Pierre got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Columbus is 4th in the South Atlantic League Northwest Division with a record of 21-15.
Columbus needed the clutch hitting of Malvin Moreno to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Catfish on top, 7-5. For the game, Moreno had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I was seeing the ball well tonight," said Moreno.
