Bananas Get Past Hickory for 3-2 Win
|
Savannah pitcher Joshua Lewis had a large part in his team subduing the Hickory Crawdads, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Lewis. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Chad Kendall. Payton Flack earned the save for Savannah, his 1st of the year.
Colt Cheek came through with a big-time hit for Savannah. The first baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Savannah skipper John Bradtke. "I can't complain."
The win gives Savannah a season record of 17-11.
