The Rome Braves picked up a win at State Mutual Stadium, knocking off the Lexington Legends, 6-0. On the mound for Rome was right-hander Ricky Fernández, who played a pivotal role in the win. Fernández, now 4-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Rome is now 15-11.

The game could have flipped with one out in the top of the sixth. But Ricky Fernández made what his manager later called "an A-plus pitch." With runners on 1st and 3rd and Lexington trailing 3-0, Fernández threw a fastball to Byron Lyons and Lyons flied out.
