Richardson Jr. on Fire: 5-for-5 for Lexington

There was no storybook ending. John Richardson Jr. of the Lexington Legends socked it to the visiting Hickory Crawdads with a terrific 5-hit game, but his team didn't get the win. The Legends fell, 7-1, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
"I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Richardson Jr. complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too."
He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. Lexington manager Cameron McElfresh sympathized with his center fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "John played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough."
John Richardson Jr. singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
