Tourists Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Asheville Tourists got the win.
In a low-scoring clash between Asheville and Greensboro, pitcher Owen McCusker was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Tourists win. The Tourists are off to a tough start, getting just their 8th win in 22 games.
Asheville took a 3-1 lead on Webster DuBois's 2nd home run of the season. The solo home run, which DuBois hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Greensboro pitcher Jimmy Ruiz visibly frustrated.
DuBois was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Asheville News, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
