RiverDogs Coast to 11-1 Victory
|
The Charleston RiverDogs scored a convincing win at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, defeating the Hagerstown Suns, 11-1. One of the hitting stars was 22-year old second baseman Baltasar Mauricio who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Socrates Palacios earned the win for Charleston. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 1-2. Hagerstown drops to 8-12.
Caetano Florez had a big 2-run double for the RiverDogs in the bottom of the second inning. With Charleston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Benjamin Magalhes and swatted a double to right. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the RiverDogs ahead, 3-0.
"The RiverDogs definitely had our number," said Hagerstown manager Josh McMichael.
