Savannah Decked by Penley, Fireflies
|
A 5-RBI performance from third baseman Sam Penley, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in total bases with 47, led the Columbia Fireflies to a win over the Savannah Bananas, 8-3. Columbia reliever Feliberto Bernal got the win, raising his record to 1-0. David Garibay was tagged with the loss. Mark Williamson locked down his 1st save.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Penley hit a 3-run home run off David Garibay. It propelled the Fireflies into the lead, 4-1.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Penley told the Columbia News.
The win gives Columbia a record of 9-11.
