Hot Rods Earn Late Win
|
The bats were quiet at Ballpark of Hagerstown. But 22-year old first baseman Easton Poepping produced just enough offense to carry the Hot Rods past the Hagerstown Suns, 2-1, in 11 innings. Poepping was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. The loss lowers the Hagerstown record to 9-9.
Poepping had a game-changing home run in the top of the 11th. On a full count cutter from Conan Watson, he banged a solo home run to center, giving the Hot Rods a 2-1 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Poepping.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Hagerstown manager Jeremias Robert.
