Tourists Win, 6-4, Over Lexington
|
The umbrellas came out during the Asheville-Lexington contest at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
Led by 21-year-old Scottie Evans, the Asheville Tourists knocked off the Lexington Legends, 6-4. Evans went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs for the Tourists. Rowan Schucker was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
It could have been a different outcome for Asheville, had it not been for Duron Reed, the 23-year old second baseman . Reed contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Asheville up, 5-3.
"Not the sexiest win," said Tourists manager Miles Yilmaz, "but I'll take it."
To call the performance of the 2059 Legends subpar is an understatement.
