Braves Outdo Shorebirds in Extra Innings
|
The Rome Braves needed 10 innings to beat the Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-3, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Graham Bittmann, for one, had a fine performance. He was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win went to Walt DeLawder in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jonathan Arvedsson took the loss. The win moves Rome to a record of 4-7.
Had Bittmann not come through in the top of the tenth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Bittmann hit a run-scoring single. The Braves took the lead, 4-3, and never looked back.
"Big win," said Bittmann.
