The Lakewood BlueClaws withstood a fine game by Charleston shortstop Rocky Adams at Lake Olmstead Stadium, to upend the RiverDogs, 4-3. Adams was 1 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner in relief was Lee Elam. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Earning his 1st save of the year was Trevor Olney.
Chase Ishigami was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Lakewood. The 22-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring single off Roman Agbekpornu. It was his 7th hit of the season.
"The vibe's good," said Lakewood manager Ben Schiappa. "We've got to keep it going."
Lakewood, now 5-1, is setting the league on fire so far.
