McCurry Excels, But RiverDogs Win
The Charleston RiverDogs overcame a pretty good performance by Rome designated hitter Sal McCurry, beating the Braves, 8-7, at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. McCurry went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The defeat makes Rome 1-1.

Had Rodolfo Carra not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Carra hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the RiverDogs.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Carra said.
