Beloit Wins, 6-3, in Extra Innings
|
Despite the exploits of left fielder Juan Carlos Beccatini, the Great Lakes Loons were beaten by the Beloit Snappers, 6-3, in 10 innings. Beccatini was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Beloit reliever Aidan McCulley was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Gordie Dawdy. With the win, the Snappers have a record of 73-63.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Sawyer Cox? The 23-year old third baseman Cox stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Beloit up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Cox told the Beloit News. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
