River Bandits Squelch Snappers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits topped the Beloit Snappers, 4-0, in Midwest League action at Modern Woodmen Park. The standout performance belonged to Quad Cities pitcher and Cheyenne, Wyoming, native E.J. Berry. The winning pitcher was Berry, now 8-8. He tossed 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Quad Cities now has a record of 74-60 with the win.
The River Bandits got a big at-bat from catcher Lindell Goodwin. For the game, Goodwin went 1-3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Quad Cities a 2-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Beloit skipper Ruben Almendarez, "and it cost us."
