Whitecaps Top Haymakers, 8-6
|
A good performance from third baseman Logan Cramer helped the West Michigan Whitecaps defeat the Cedar Rapids Haymakers, 8-6. Cramer was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Whitecaps. The winner was Romeo Casias in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Emmett Giles took the loss. Pete Witherspoon earned the save for West Michigan, his 22nd.
In the bottom of the sixth, West Michigan first baseman Arden Bridges put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 16th double of the year. Cedar Rapids pitcher Emmett Giles served it up. Just like that, the Whitecaps were ahead, 6-4.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said West Michigan skipper Dave Aimone.
The Whitecaps raised their record to 61-70.
