Whitecaps Winners, 6-3, Over Captains

The West Michigan Whitecaps picked up a win at Fifth Third Ballpark, knocking off the Lake County Captains, 6-3. Starting pitcher R.L. Unsworth was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Unsworth surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Princeton Bell closed the game out for West Michigan, earning his 3rd save.
West Michigan left fielder Kenny Lingerfelt contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 160th hit of the season and put the Whitecaps ahead, 4-2.
"All in all, I thought R.L. pitched a fine game for us tonight," said West Michigan manager Dylan Roberts.
The win puts West Michigan at 66-65 this season.
