McFadden Delivers Walk-Off Win for Black Bears
The Virginia Black Bears picked up a win at The Sparrow's Nest, knocking off the Miami Marlins, 4-3. On the mound for Virginia was right-hander Chase Erickson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Virginia reliever R.J. Slaven picked up the win to move to 2-0. Marco Ortiz suffered the loss. Virginia, now 4-9, is off to a slow start.

Virginia won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With no outs and Marco Ortiz on the mound for Miami, right fielder Peter McFadden hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Black Bears fans to their feet.

"We need to get rid of the bad mojo," said McFadden. "Maybe this win will help."
