Snappers Lose Contest, 5-3
|
Municipal Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Beloit Snappers and Westside Woolly Mammoths.
The inspired effort of Beloit first baseman Billy Sylvis was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-3, to the Westside Woolly Mammoths. Sylvis was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Vinny Vanderbeek, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2060 draft, was the winner. He's now 5-6. The loser was Nick Ezell.
Martin Jones had a big 2-run home run for the Woolly Mammoths in the bottom of the second inning. With Westside leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Nick Ezell, who is tied for 8th in the MID in wins with 10, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Woolly Mammoths on top, 3-0.
Westside manager Chris Stinnett commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
Westside has a record of 65-67, placing them 6th in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
