River Bandits Sting Lugnuts, 4-3
|
The Quad Cities River Bandits had to overcome a fine effort from Lansing pitcher Oliver Matos to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Cooley Law School Stadium. Matos went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Dylan McFarland, 5-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Sebastian Terry recorded the save, his 3rd.
Had Geandris Lebron not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lebron hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the River Bandits.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Lebron said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The River Bandits move to 70-54 with the win, while the Lugnuts drop to 57-67.
