With Elijah Ellis leading the charge, the Lansing Lugnuts defeated the Clinton LumberKings, 3-1. Ellis was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Lugnuts. Stanley McDonough picked up the save, his 4th. The Lugnuts saw their win-loss record go to 73-49. At the same time, the LumberKings fell to 78-44.
With Lansing leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Ellis hit a slider from Bryson Fortune for a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Lugnuts ahead, 3-0.
"We busted our tails," said Clinton manager Fernando Vasquez. "But we came up short."
