Dawson Helps Westside Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
The Westside Woolly Mammoths topped the Ames Sod Poodles, 10-3, with third baseman Greg Dawson playing a big role. Dawson went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for the Woolly Mammoths in the win. Warren Flores came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 8-5. Johnny Steger closed the game out for Westside, earning his 2nd save.
Dawson contributed a big hit, a 2-run triple, for Westside in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Dawson took a sinker from Flip Gaddis and stroked the triple to right. His 1st triple of the season allowed the Woolly Mammoths to leap in front, 2-1.
Dawson told a Westside Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
With the win, Westside goes to 60-62, while the Sod Poodles fall to 59-63.
