Vitale Pops Two Homers in 15-4 Win for Clinton
|
2052 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
Behind a fine performance from Kyle Vitale, the Clinton LumberKings knocked off the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 15-4. Vitale hit 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6 for the LumberKings. Nate Hawver, the winning pitcher, improved to 7-7. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 4.
Calvin Cousineau, the 23-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Cousineau contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Clinton up, 2-0.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Cousineau.
The first-place LumberKings, at 77-45, now lead their division by 7½ games.
