The West Michigan Whitecaps used a great performance from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Pirro Olivo to beat the South Bend Cubs, 3-1, at Fifth Third Ballpark. The 5th-place Whitecaps are 66-53.

The Whitecaps got a big at-bat from left fielder Wendell Taylor. For the game, Taylor was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave West Michigan a 2-0 lead.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Taylor.
