The Flint Wolverines weathered an outstanding game by Ames shortstop Elijah Green to topple the Sod Poodles, 9-8. Green was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. John Tilton got credit for the save for Flint. It was his 17th of the year. The Wolverines now have a record of 40-80.

Flint used a timely hit from Simón González to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 9-8. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We think we're a good team overall, so we're not too surprised to win today," said González.
