Sod Poodles Score Late to Beat Wolverines, 5-4
|
The Ames Sod Poodles racked up a win at Community Field, bumping off the Flint Wolverines, 5-4. Brandon Ralston, who started for Ames, pitched effectively for his team. The win was credited to Elmer Dembowski in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Tom Watson took the loss. The win elevated the Sod Poodles to 64-54.
Ames got a knockout punch from Ripley Sester. The pinch hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The fans went nuts at the end," Ralston said.
