Tight Tilt Goes to Wolverines, 2-1

The Flint Wolverines had to overcome a fine performance from Ames pitcher Rocky Ploetz to grab a 2-1 win at Community Field. Ploetz allowed 2 runs over 6 innings. Sylas Daigle came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. John Tilton picked up the save, his 16th.
Flint relied on the hitting of Vladimir De La Rosa to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Wolverines on top, 2-1. For the game, De La Rosa had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Tough win," said De La Rosa. "We had to earn it."
Despite the win, the Wolverines have a lousy 39-79 record.
