Peoria Wins, 4-3, in 13 Innings
|
The Peoria Chiefs took Quad Cities pitcher Smiley Duquette's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Modern Woodmen Park. The final score had Peoria getting past the River Bandits, 4-3. Duquette went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 3. The winner in relief was Orion Zoller. He is now 4-7. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings. Joe Lewis recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 3 for 3.
Peoria needed the clutch hitting of Jay Berger to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-3. For the game, Berger had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Quad Cities manager John Buff.
Peoria now owns a record of 48-68.
