Dock Spiders Hold Off Sod Poodles, 3-2
|
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders had to overcome a fine performance from Ames pitcher Flip Gaddis to grab a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Burlington. Gaddis allowed 1 run over 5 innings. Hugo Estevez picked up the win in relief for Fond du Lac, while Michael LeDoux took the loss. O.D. Porter earned the save, his 11th in 14 tries.
Fond du Lac took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Miguel Del Valle hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Fond du Lac in front, 3-1.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Ames manager Wil Coffey. "The effort was great."
With the win, the Dock Spiders have a record of 66-49.
