West Michigan parlayed a decent outing from starter Ethan Roldan into a solid win over the Ames Sod Poodles. The final score was 5-2. The win went to Josh Gallick in relief, making him now 5-7. Montrell Tullos took the loss for Ames. With the win, West Michigan raised its record to 51-50.

West Michigan used the timely hitting of Kenneth Gilbert to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Ethan is tough when he's hitting his spots," said West Michigan manager Dylan Roberts.
