Late Magic Gets Westside 5-2 Win
|
Westside beat Quad Cities on the strength of starter Manny Hooker's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Warren Flores got credit for the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Dustin Cuella locked down his 19th save.
Westside used a timely hit from Tony Breaux to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Woolly Mammoths ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Woolly Mammoths," said Breaux.
The 5th-place Woolly Mammoths go to 46-52.
