Woolly Mammoths Win, 8-4, Versus Beloit
|
David Thompson made an impact in the 8-4 Westside win over Beloit. Thompson, who is tied for 9th in the MID in stolen bases with 9, went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner in relief was Zach Woods. He is now 4-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. With the win, Westside raised its record to 59-39.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when center fielder Joe Blanc hit a single. The Woolly Mammoths went on to win.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Thompson said. "That's why you play the game."
