Cruz Slugs Dragons to 7-3 Win
|
Luz Cruz, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, knocked in 4 runs to help the Dayton Dragons win, 7-3, over the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Dayton reliever Tim Woodard was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Lonny Kelly took the loss. Earning his 7th save of the year was T.J. Fritzinger.
The Dragons got a big at-bat from third baseman Kevin Searcy. For the game, Searcy was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Dayton a 3-1 lead.
"I had a good feeling about this game even before we took the field," Cruz told the Dayton Citizen. "I'm glad it wasn't just gas."
At 49-47, Dayton is in 5th place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.
