Chiefs Win Nail-Biter
|
The Peoria Chiefs used a stellar performance from pitcher Kolton Phillips to throttle the Quad Cities offense en route to an extra-inning, 3-2 win at Modern Woodmen Park. Peoria reliever James Katlin picked up the win, raising his record to 2-5. Turk Mireles was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Victor Aguirre, his 7th.
Peoria needed the clutch hitting of Emmanuel Bowman to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 3-2. For the game, Bowman had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Gil Mitchell.
Peoria is now 34-58, Quad Cities 43-49.
