Chicago defeated Minnesota, 6-2, in large part due to 26-year old shortstop Jason Saeger. Saeger drove in 3 runs. The shortstop had 1 double and 1 home run for the Cubs. Rogers Williams picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 1-2. The win takes Chicago to 7-4.

Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Tommy Kelly to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
