Mets Powers Haymakers to 24-5 Win
|
The Fort Wayne TinCaps and Cedar Rapids Haymakers left the fans buzzing.
Good production from center fielder Alex Mets helped the Cedar Rapids Haymakers topple the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 24-5. Mets was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4 for the Haymakers. Cedar Rapids now has a 3-game win streak.
In the bottom of the fifth, Emanuel Joy delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Cedar Rapids shortstop hit a 2-run single, putting the Haymakers in front, 24-5.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Haymakers manager Chris Mathias. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
