The Flint Wolverines downed the Lansing Lugnuts, 8-6. The hitting star was first baseman Alejandro Rivera. Rivera was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Wolverines. Flint pitcher Joshua Trujillo got the win. He's now 4-1. Suelita Cordero was tagged with the loss. The win puts the Wolverines at 48-37, while the Lugnuts drop to 55-30.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Flint trailing 6-5, Rivera jumped on a changeup from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Bentley Lee and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Wolverines had a walk-off win.

In postgame comments to the Flint Observer, Rivera said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
