Good production from second baseman Charles Wagner helped the Clinton LumberKings topple the Ames Sod Poodles, 8-4. Wagner was 2-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the LumberKings. Hailey Melton earned the win to go to 7-1. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 1 strikeout in 5 innings of work. The first-place LumberKings hiked their record to 60-28.

Holden Paulson had a big 3-run home run for the LumberKings in the bottom of the third inning. With Clinton leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a cutter from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Patricio Terrero and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the LumberKings on top, 5-1.
