Fond du Lac Dock Spiders starter Mercury Gracia turned in a top-notch performance against the Cedar Rapids Haymakers at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The result was a win for the Dock Spiders, 8-1. Gracia, now 4-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Fond du Lac is now 28-60.

Aaron Flory had a big 2-run home run for the Dock Spiders in the top of the third inning. With Fond du Lac leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Zach Weatherholt and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dock Spiders ahead, 3-0.

"I can't say enough about Mercury," said Fond du Lac manager Michael Frazier. "He stepped up when we needed him."
