Both offenses were relatively subdued at Parkview Field. Fortunately for the Lake County Captains, though, Benjamin Wenster was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, to lead his team past the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 3-0. Lee Shape earned save number 22. With the win, the Captains improved to 51-34.

Wenster had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 slider from Luke Cunnamarra, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Captains a 3-0 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Wenster.

"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Fort Wayne manager Nathan Halker. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
