The Ames Sod Poodles beat the Westside Woolly Mammoths, 3-2, in 10 innings. Ames pitcher and Huber Ridge, Ohio, native Murray Smearman led the way. Ames goes to 31-36, Westside to 35-32.

Logan Roberts delivered a big hit for Ames. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sod Poodles ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"If you're not prepared, it's not pressure you feel, it's fear," mused Ames manager Jake DiVita.
