TinCaps Cut Down Haymakers, 3-0

The Fort Wayne TinCaps faced a tough opponent in Cedar Rapids pitcher Roldan Donzelli, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Veterans Memorial Stadium by a final score of 3-0. Donzelli went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Landon Miller got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. Donte Ray earned the save for Fort Wayne, his 12th.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the TinCaps sent 21-year-old third baseman Ray Funchica to the plate with runners on 1st and 3rd. The youngster shook off the pressure and hit a run-scoring single, to put Fort Wayne on top, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Fort Wayne manager Nathan Halker said.
The TinCaps sport a record of 17-42.
