Ames Sod Poodles starter Murray Smearman was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the South Bend Cubs, 6-1. The Sod Poodles win now puts them at 26-31.

Ames used a well-timed hit by Lucas Erdman to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sod Poodles ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

Said losing manager Mickey Smith: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
