LumberKings Foil Loons, 3-1
|
Starting pitcher Nathaniel Shields had a solid game. He was a big reason the Clinton LumberKings throttled the Great Lakes Loons, 3-1. In 6 innings, Shields surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Clark Temkin got credit for the save for Clinton. It was his 16th of the year.
Clinton used a well-timed hit by D.J. Lerman to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the LumberKings ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
In postgame remarks, Lerman applauded his team's "business-like approach."
Clinton is sitting pretty at 46-11.
