Whitecaps Fall Short, 7-6, at Ames
The Ames Sod Poodles cut down the West Michigan Whitecaps by the score of 7-6, with the largest share of the credit going to pinch hitter Isaiah Simmons. Simmons was 1-1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Sod Poodles. Ames is now 37-18, West Michigan 27-28.

Simmons had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Nate Clark, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Sod Poodles a 7-6 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Simmons.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Simmons told the Ames Daily News.
