The umbrellas came out during the Flint-Fort Wayne contest at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

The exploits of designated hitter Lorenzo Paulino, who is tied for 8th in the MID with a .412 on-base percentage, helped the Flint Wolverines defeat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 9-2. Paulino was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Flint's record now stands at 27-15, placing them first in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

The TinCaps had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Wolverines going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old right fielder Luís Giron came to the plate. Giron hit a bases-clearing triple on a first pitch fastball from Fort Wayne hurler Paco Mosqueira. It was Giron's 1st triple of the year.

"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Giron.
