Lugnuts Take Tight Tango, 3-2
|
The Beloit Snappers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Nick Ezell into a win. Instead, the Lansing Lugnuts prevailed, 3-2. Ezell threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The win went to Justin Heffington in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Timmie Snow took the loss. Suelita Cordero earned the save for Lansing.
Had Iona Te'o not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Te'o hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Lugnuts.
After the game, Lansing manager Mitch Carmichael applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The first-place Lugnuts hiked their record to 25-13.
