Losing Trend Continues for Fort Wayne
|
A good performance from designated hitter Marc Zamora helped the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders defeat the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-2. Zamora went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs for the Dock Spiders. Ederi Lira notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now sits at 3-2. Dave Porcello was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
The Dock Spiders got a big at-bat from right fielder Morton Ventura. For the game, Ventura went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Fond du Lac a 3-2 lead.
"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Nathan Halker.
At 16-22, the Dock Spiders find themselves in 8th place in the Midwest League Western Division.
